Punta della Dogana
Punta della Dogana is a historic triangular complex that was built in the 17th century. Constructed at the convergence of the Canal Grande and the Canale della Giudecca, the old Maritime Customs House (Dogana del Mare) decisively points towards the future, like the bow of a naval vessel that bears the symbols of both Earth and Fortune.

Palazzo Grassi
Acquired by François Pinault in 2005 and reopened in 2006, Palazzo Grassi was one of the last private palaces to be constructed on the Grand Canal whilst Venice was still a Republic. Such eighteenth-century features as  he stunning marble floor of the entrance hall, the Venetian scagliola columns and the decorated wooden ceilings now form a harmonious whole with the work introduced by the Japanese master architect.
These additions include symmetrical metal structures to support the lighting and provide a completely new frame for the ceiling overhead, and stark panels that form the walls of rooms whose entrances are still framed by the original marble.
A delicate and majestic glass curtain lets natural light enter into this precious treasure chest.
Thanks to the quality and the creativity of its outstanding exhibitions, Palazzo Grassi has in just a few years become one of the most prestigious cultural centres in the world, enjoying great public and critical success.

Both designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the refurbishments of Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana write a new page in the history of art. Fully respecting the historical  heritage of Venice, they show how the grandeur of historical buildings can stimulate the creativity of present and future artists.
