Edited by Francesco Bonami and Alison Gingeras

Celebrating the inauguration of the contemporary art centre of Punta della Dogana, Francesco Bonami and Alison Gingeras curate an exhibition bringing together works by over 60 contemporary artists from the famous François Pinault collection.

The catalogue, designed by Christoph Radl in the signature format of Palazzo Grassi publications (24x28.5 cm), presents more than 200 works by world-famous contemporary artists Takashi Murakami, Piotr Uklanski, Rudolf Stingel, Lee Lozano, Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, Martial Raysse, Jean Tinguely and many others. The exhibition of this important selection is held in two separate venues, Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana.

Taking the studio - the place where an artist's creativity first unfolds - as its starting-point, the book moves on to the works themselves and then the exhibition of them, offering an exclusive premiere of the spaces newly restored by Tadao Ando.

The introductory essay by the two curators explores the relationship between artists, creative spaces, and patrons. A very enjoyable read after the entrancing sequence of photographic depictions of artists and their studios which opens the book. The catalogue presents the works according to their collocation in the two exhibition venues.
