LaToya Ruby Frazier
Artist and activist LaToya Ruby Frazier was born in 1982 in Pennsylvania, United Stated. She currently lives between New Brunswick, New Jersey, Braddock, Pennsylvania, and New York City. She studied applied art and photography at the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University. Frazier’s credo—that photography is only documentary when it does not replace, outdo, or determine social activism—suggests that her work should always be seen as a performative political event. In 2014 she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. Her work was presented at the Venice Biennale in 2011.
Her work was included in the exhibition 'Dancing with Myself' (2018) at Punta della Dogana.
