Art Conversation: Bertille Bak
Artist Bertille Bak is at the Teatrino o discuss her time spent at the artist residence of the Pinault Collection in Lens and the work she developped there.
The screening of two video works Faire le mur (2008, 17') and Transports à dos d'hommes (2012, 15') is followed by the talk with Alain Fleischer, Director of Le Fresnoy, and Caroline Bourgeois, curator at the Pinault Collection.
The artist used her time in Lens, at the heart of a mining territory, to explore her family history and develop a project dedicated to child labour in mines today. The video installation she is currently producing will be the result of a common action led with children who currently work in mines in Madagascar, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Bolivia.
The project will be presented in a solo exhibition at Fondazione Merz in Turin and at Louvre Lens in 2021.
Faire le mur is screened in French with English subtitles. Transports à dos d'hommes is a sound film with no dialogue.
Talk in French with simultaneous interpretation in Italian.
