The city of the future: the museum of contemporary nature
Seminars by Emanuele Coccia

Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana and Università IUAV di Venezia, Dipartimento di Culture del progetto - Infrastruttura di ricerca Ir.Ide present a cycle of four seminars, "The city of the future: the museum of contemporary nature", held by philosopher Emanuele Coccia, Visiting professor Ir.Ide, Iuav - Dipartimento di Culture del progetto.

Political thinking has always separated the city from the forest, civilisation from nature. Faced with a contemporary climate crisis, it is more urgent than ever to rethink the idea of what a city is and to stop building it in opposition with vegetation and fauna that exist outside it. The seminars invite to imagine this new city as an equivalent for nature of what contemporary art museums have been for art. The city of the future should not only enable human beings to think and live as part of nature, but also to think nature as a profoundly historic reality, capable of being contemporary.
