Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi
Intorno a Nauman #1. Des pieds et des mains
The Teatrino presents a cycle of screenings entitled “Intorno a Nauman”, curated by cinema critic and author Dominique Païni and inspired by the exhibition ‘Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies’ open at Punta della Dogana until 27 November 2022.
The selection includes films that somehow echo the act of walking and the classical pose Contrapposto, two elements at the heart of Bruce Numan’s works on view. As well as establishing a dialogue with the performances of Bruce Nauman, the cycle retraces the story of Contrapposto, of moving bodies, at the centre of cinematography since its beginning.
'Des pieds et des mains', the first appointment of the cycle, presents works by Richard Serra, a film by Henry C. Potter and one by Gaston Ravel and Jacques Feyder:
- Hand Catching Lead (1968, 3') by Richard Serra
- Hands Scraping (1968, 3'40) by Richard Serra
- Des pieds et des mains (1915, 17') by Gaston Ravel e Jacques Feyder
- Hellzapoppin' (1942, 84') by Henry C. Potter
- Hands Tied (1968, 6') by Richard Serra
