La scomparsa di mia madre
Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi
La scomparsa di mia madre is the award-winning documentary directed by Beniamino Barrese, finalist at the European Film Awards and only Italian title presented at the last edition of the Sundance Festival, and dedicated to his own mother, Benedetta Barzini.
She was a top model, an icon of the 60’s, a muse of artists and photographers such as Wharol, Dalì and Irving Penn, as well as a feminist and university teacher, always fighting against the stereotypes of the representation of women in fashion. At 75 years old, Benedetta Barzini decided she wished to leave everything behind and disappear. Her son’s project to make a film about her becomes a moving and intense confrontation about the meaning and control of images.
La scomparsa di mia madre is distributed by Reading Bloom and Rodaggio Film.
Maria Luisa Frisa and Gabriele Monti, from University Iuav of Venice, introduce the film in the presence of Benedetta Barzini and Beniamino Barrese.
Free entry until capacity is reached.
