Le Mépris - Luc Tuymans, uno sguardo sul cinema
Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi
On the occasion of the first monographic show dedicated to Luc Tuymans in Italy, “La Pelle” at Palazzo Grassi, the Teatrino presents a film review curated by the Belgian artist.
The first appointment is with Le Mépris (1963, 105’), written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard and based on the eponymous novel by Alberto Moravia. The film tells the story of the French writer Paul Javal, who has to rewrite the script for a film about the Odyssey. A misunderstanding arises between Paul and his wife, triggering a profound feeling of contempt that irreparably ruins the harmony of the couple.
The film was shot in the famous Villa Malaparte in Capri, subject of the painting Le Mépris by Luc Tuymans on display at Palazzo Grassi.
