The Masterclasses led by professionals from the world of art and culture, open to university students and young professionals are back at Palazzo Grassi. On Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 April, translator Silvia Pareschi leads a Masterclass dedicated to the translation of American authors.

Silvia Pareschi has been translating English and American authors for more than twenty years, especially for Adelphi, Einaudi and Mondadori. Besides the entire work of Jonathan Franzen, she has translated Ernest Hemingway, Don DeLillo, Cormac McCarthy, Zadie Smith, Jamaica Kincaid, Junot Díaz, E.L. Doctorow, Denis Johnson, Nathan Englander, Shirley Jackson, Amy Hempel, Annie Proulx, Colson Whitehead. She is also author of the collection of short stories I jeans di Bruce Springsteen e altri sogni americani (Giunti). She is currently on the Maggiore Lake, where she was born.

The Masterclass is divided in three days:

Tuesday 26 April from 10 am to 2 pm
American Contemporary Literature: Jonathan Franzen

Wednesday 27 April from 10 am to 2 pm
A modern classic: Ernest Hemingway

Thursday 28 April from 10 am to 2 pm
Translating Hybrid Languages: Junot Díaz

On Tuesday 26 April, Silvia Pareschi is at the Teatrino for a public talk entitled 'Tradurre i classici con Franca Cavagnoli e Silvia Pareschi: Mark Twain e Ernest Hemingway'.

How to participate to the Masterclass
The Masterclass is a practical workshop dedicated to translation and open to students of foreign languages and young professionals of the sector who have a specific interest in literary translature. An excellent knowledge of English is required.
Ahead of the Masterclass, participants will be required to translate some texts.

Cost: 50€. Each participants will receive a Membership Card of Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana.
Participation is free for those who already possess a Membership Card.
