Edoardo Boncinelli, former professor of Biology and Genetics at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, was Director of SISSA, the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati in Trieste. Member of Academia Europaea and of the EMBO, the European Organization for Molecular Biology, he was President of the Società Italiana di Biofisica e Biologia Molecolare. In 2005, he received the EMBO Award for Communication in the Life Sciences.
He published books with leading Italian publishers (Mondadori, Rizzoli, Bompiani, Einaudi, Laterza, Cortina, Zanichelli). He collaborates with La scienze and with the Corriere della Sera. Furthermore, passionate about the Greek History, language and literature, Boncinelli engaged with the translation of classical Greek lyric and published, for San Raffele press, I miei lirici greci. 365 giorni di poesia, an hommage to his native country and to the classic antiquity that fascinates him.
