Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi
Miracoli e Conversioni. Racconti dalla LIAF Biennale
The Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi hosts the conversation between Francesco Urbano Ragazzi, the curators of the 2022 edition of the Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF), and the French artist Pauline Curnier Jardin. The talk is dedicated to a permanent installation, Adoration, that she has created in collaboration with the inmates of Casa di Reclusione Femminile in Venice and Rio Terà dei Pensieri as part of special commission by LIAF in Venice.
A large wall drawing and an animated film transform the prison's parlor into a festive meeting place that overturns the dynamics of isolation and social representation. The work, for the exclusive use of the penitentiary community, was made possible thanks to the participation of Casablanca Studio, Zuecca Projects, DROMe, Ellen De Bruijne Projects and Chert Lüdde, with the support of Centraal Museum Utrecht and Italian Council (10th edition, 2021), a program to promote Italian contemporary art in the world by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
The conversation is followed by the screening of a selection of videos by artists who exhibit in the 2022 edition of LIAF, the longest-running Biennial in Scandinavian: Jonas Mekas, Pauline Curnier Jardin, Tomaso De Luca, Shadi Habib Allah, Jennifer West, Cheryl Donegan, Christine Rebet, New Mineral Collective, Haroon Mirza, Raffaela Naldi Rossano.
