at Palazzo Grassi
Palazzo Grassi was the last private residence to be built on the Grand Canal before the Republic of Venice fell in 1797. In 2006, Tadao Ando carried out his restoration, making discreet and minimalist interventions that respect the history of the building while bringing it into the 21st century.
Punta della Dogana
Standing at the centre of the Basin of San Marco, surrounded by water, the seventeenth-century Punta della Dogana, site of Venice’s old custom house, is one of the city’s most evocative and symbolic buildings.
